fighting the PPCM with good food, juice plus and sheer determination for normalcy, well my normalcy anyway
I was always a morning person until PPCM, it seems the energy spent during the day takes a toll on me and my heart starts acting up, keeping me awake or just waking me up from a dead sleep. I was wondering if anyone else had symptoms of palpitations after they eat and seem to have more palpitations at night and when lying down? Sometimes, the palpitations beat so hard that my whole body is moving, even my eyes throb. It's been scary, but I am slowly accepting it and doing what I can to ease those symptoms. I'm working on a "palpitation diet" and even being only on day 2, I am feeling a huge relief and reduction in my heart symptoms. The anxiety is still there, but I think that will continue for awhile with having a newborn, and moving, and life just being hectic in general. I will post my daily eats when I can to try and help others as I see it helping me. I did go to the doctor yesterday and he said he can still hear extra beats in my heart and that as soon as I get to my new destination, my first priority is to get in with a cardiologist. He prescribed me celexa and buspirone, but crazy me feels anxious taking those meds and I would prefer to try go the whole food route to see if that will help, I figure if I have to give Celexa at least 3 weeks to start working, then it's fair to give a new lifestyle of eating a try too before I give in to that. I finally with a broken heart, no pun intended, stopped breastfeeding. It was too exhausting. I was nervous about going through a painful engorgement process like I did when I weaned my other boys. Those times took my milk 4 weeks to dry up and I ended up with mastitis and in a lot of pain. This time though I researched and did cold cabbage leaves in a sports bra with an ace bandage wrapped around, took Ibprofen, avoided hot showers and drank 4 cups of homemade sage water in a day and it literally took 2 days and my pain is almost none!! Side note though, is that I should have researched more thoroughly and checked with my doctor before taking the Sage, because it interacts with anti anxiety medication, because the herb itself can be an anxiolytic. But it DOES work. I do believe it would also relieve constipation, because I went to the restroom a lot the night I drank that stuff! I also started taking Juice Plus, which are pure fruit and veggie extracts put in a capsule, apparently there are some studies being done on heart disease and juice plus benefits, so I hooked up with my friend who is a consultant and am adding that to my diet instead of a multivitamin. I will let you know how I feel it's working for me.
